Five Finger Salsa
When Tara asked me to write the blog for Royal + Reese, to say I felt honored was merely an understatement...but then she told me, “the sky is the limit”, and my head began to spin out of control with the ideas that I could write about! I’m what I like to call a “simpleton” because my posts are basic, they’re simple. They don’t have lots of big, f l u f f y and fRiLLy words. So, I’d like to thank each and every one of you for reading these, because as you know we want to relate everything to YOU GUYS, to our followers, our readers, but more importantly, our friends!
While we gear up to the (hopefully) warmer days, I wanted to share with you one of my favorite recipes. My friend Jake, who I consistently call, “My Jacques” (pronounce it in your French-iest accent) got this recipe from a friend. He then shared it with Kait, and Kait made it for me, and it never disappoints.
This recipe is called, “Five Finger Salsa”. There are seven ingredients, but two are for personal preference, hence the “Five Finger...” Normally, I’m not one for homemade salsa because it just tasted like I’m eating a tomato mush, but this recipe is the bomb.com and when we get together for cookouts in Nashville, it’s been a staple.
Here’s what you need:
-4/5 larger size tomatoes OR 2 large cans of whole peeled tomatoes <—(This is what we use)
-1/2 large red onion
-1 jalapeño
-1 bunch of cilantro
-juice from 2 limes
-1 tablespoon of fresh garlic
-salt and pepper to taste
Honestly, this recipe is so simple and is so delightful because it’s so refreshing as a snack. We pair this with Trader Joe’s Quinoa and Black Bean Tortilla Chips! Do yourself a favor and make this, you will not be disappointed. OR, make it when you have yourself a Nacho / Mexican Night!
