Whitney Wednesday: A KETO KAIT TAKEOVER!

Hey Guys!! It's me! Keto Kait! I know you're all waiting on the edge of your seat to hear what I eat every second of every day! So here we go!

I learned about Keto about a year ago when a "couple" friend of mine started this crazy diet for their upcoming vacation to Mexico. Fast forward to a combined 160 pound weight loss of the two, I started to ask myself, "What is this crazy Keto thing?" So fast forward again, I went overseas on a trip. I fancied myself a "gelato-man" with every meal. I enjoyed some great pizza and came back with some full cheeks... storing nuts for the winter, if you will. After reviewing all of my trip photos, I realized I MUST make a change. I had a hard time seeing what I saw in photos, and kept thinking... I can't POSSIBLY look like this in real life.  In all seriousness, I knew I needed to start taking care of my health. Being a business owner with a crazy schedule, massive amounts of stress, and traveling, I needed a new healthy way of living and a clean eating guide to live by. Although, I don't have low self confidence, I didn't like the number I saw on the scale or the fact that my pants no longer buttoned. (Shout out to Wallsy for starting the Keto trend, and for the all the crap I gave her. Two Keto Claps for her!)

After I watched my sister Whitney rapidly drop the lbs, I then knew that Keto Kait must emerge. With little to no research, a $300 Trader Joe's bill, and more meat than I could eat in a week, Keto Kait was ready for her first day.

The first week was the most challenging because I was breaking up with sugar as well as eating completely different so I found myself hungry a lot. Typically I would start with a Keto Coffee, then four hours later, I would eat eggs, bacon and avocado. Over time, I would cut out lunch because I was no longer hungry, so I'd substitute lunch for a snack of nuts. Then for dinner, Mr. Grill has been my best friend and Drumfill has been my grill master. We did a lot of chicken thighs, bunless cheese burgers, taco salads, and various low carb vegetables. I never gave up wine because "LIVE YOUR LIFE"  Heeeeeeeeyyyyy (In Rhianna's best singing voice). But with that said, leave enough carbs in your macros to enjoy that glass of wine. The dryer the better.

The first two weeks, I experienced symptoms of Keto Flu. While breaking up with sugar, I was light headed and dizzy. I tried working out but would get dizzy quickly. So I waited a full two weeks in order to hit ketosis and would take light brisk walks up hill both ways in the snow. I'm jk. I hit ketosis after the first four days, and after two weeks, I was down ten pounds. Currently, I no longer crave sugar, I'm down 15 pounds in 4 weeks and transitioning into a new pant size. With more healthy fat in my diet, my brain functions at a better level, I never feel tired, and perform better at the gym. I've found myself finding joy in other things than food when I'm with other people which helps me no longer feel tempted. As a business owner and a manager, I have a staff of women that I want to be a good example for. Living a healthy lifestyle is one way I want to be a good example, especially for the younger girls on my team.

I recently watched a documentary, and since starting Keto have done tons of research on digestion as I was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome when I was a teenager. I have found that I have extreme sensitivities to dairy, anything fried, and a few other major things that were in my diet before Keto. There are so many things in our American diet that have chemicals, and will cause major damage long term, and I want to be around a long time to tell the story of Keto Kait and Royal + Reese. I don't currently have kiddos, but I also wanted to get my health in check before I start having children so that I can teach them good habits as well.

I don't want everyone to think that we are pushing this lifestyle, and that there is only one way to eat, or live. I know from experience that not every eating plan works for everyone. Phil has a bandmate that broke out in hives with eating high fat... so again, NOT for everyone! LOL!

I just knew that if I didn't make a change I never would, and I would continue to not have pants to wear, and would feel groggy. Running Royal + Reese is my greatest accomplishment, and the thing in my life that I am most proud of. I want to be the best that I can be to continue to grow this business and the community of women that make it so incredibly special.

Lifestyle changes are so hard, but once you stick to it, and make the change it can be the most wonderful thing you do.

Lastly, I'm not going to sit here and act like I never feel like eating tacos, or every time I pass Carl's ice cream that I don't want to do a mad Nascar move to pull into that drive through and get that cookie monster ice cream. I do have those moments where I think, what if I just had this cookie, or chips and salsa? But, I always combat those thoughts with, "is it worth the indigestion pain I will feel, or losing a few days of getting closer to my goals in health?"

Although I have not cheated yet, sometimes the answer to those questions will still be yes. I will want ice cream, and I still want to eat tacos. I am not going to deprive myself forever but I needed a guideline to have better moderation in my life. As you guys have heard me say in videos, when I traveled I would find myself hitting up cinnabon, or grabbing some skittles in the airport. NOT OK haha.

I hope this helps give you some more perspective on why I changed my eating habits, and lifestyle. I LOVE the keto eating plan, and find it incredibly easy to stick to. I do eat more plant based keto, and with our produce I always buy organic to lessen how many pesticides and chemicals I'm ingesting. But with that being said, I'm not crazy about it. If I want carbs or my body is craving some, I intuitively eat when I'm hungry, and everything in moderation.
